BLADENBORO – Karli Priest pitched a 2-hit shutout and struck out 3 batters to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 7-0 Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball victory over Bladenboro Thursday.
Kolee Wilkins cracked a second-inning single, and MaKenzie Singletary smacked a single in the seventh inning. Priest did not issue a walk and hit only one batter.
The Lady Blue Devils built a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Priest laced a single to centerfield and Lena Trinidad walked. Shy’Asia Ratliff belted a single to centerfield, and Maegan Burney swatted a single to right. Priest, Trinidad and Ratliff scored runs in the inning.
Molly Evans started the CSD fourth inning with a single, and Priest slapped a single to centerfield. Emma Turbeville drilled a double to rightfield. Evans scored to pad the lead to 4-0.
Addie Bowen walked to begin the Clarkton fifth inning, and Ratliff smashed single to right-centerfield. Bowen scored to push the margin to 5-0.
Ratliff and Burney started the Lady Blue Devil seventh with singles and both of them came around to score.
Ratliff batted 3-4 and scored twice to lead the Clarkton hitters. Turbeville finished 2-5 at the plate with a double, and Burney was 2-4 with a run scored. Priest batted 2-5 with a run scored. Trinidad and Heustess added one hit each, and Trinidad, Bowen and Evans scored runs.
Rylee Chadwick struck out 9 batters, gave up 9 hits, walked 3 and hit a batter for Bladenboro.
Bladenboro will host Whiteville Central Monday, while Clarkton School of Discovery will entertain Hallsboro.
