ELIZABETHTOWN – Kayleigh Raynor pitched a one-hitter and hit for the cycle Tuesday to lead Elizabethtown to a 17-0 Bladen Five Middle School Conference baseball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery.
Raynor singled to left field in the first inning, blasted a triple to left-centerfield in the second inning, slammed a double in her third at-bat and walloped a grand-slam home run to end the game on the mercy rule in the third inning.
In the circle Raynor struck out 5 batters in 3 innings and only allowed a second-inning single to Khadijah Jones for the only Lady Blue Devil hit.
Raynor, Abigail Madden and Lainey Hughes scored 3 runs each to lead the Elizabethtown offense. Teammates Carlie West, Alexus Mitchell and Laura Davidson scored 2 runs each. Tinyuah Rhodie and Cheylee scored one run each.
Elizabethtown will host Tar Heel Thursday, while Clarkton will entertain Bladenboro.
