ELIZABETHTOWN — Emereau Bladen exploded for 10 runs in the 1st inning and defeated Sampson Middle 16-1 Thursday in non-conference softball action.
Chloe Merritt, Ryleigh Miller, Mollie Sasser and Gracey Edwards smacked consecutive singles to start the Emereau 1st inning. Bristol Allen walked, and Bella Beard and Anna Robinson were both hit by pitches. Abby DiCicco slammed a double, and Sierra Thompson and Merritt drew walks. All of them scored as Edwards blasted a triple to clean the bases.
Bella Beard, DiCicco, Alyssa Chavis, Rylee White, Emma Adams and Tinsley Allen drew walks in the 2nd inning, and Anna Robinson belted a single.
Edwards batted 2-for-2 to lead the Lady Aviator hitters. DiCicco smashed a double, and Merritt, Miller, Sasser, and Robinson laced singles. Merritt, Beard, Robinson and DiCicco scored 2 runs each. White, Miller, Adams, Sasser, Thompson, Chavis, Bristol Allen and Edwards scored 1 run each.
Edwards struck out the side in a 1-2-3 1st inning. Sasser pitched 2 innings in relief and allowed a run on 2 walks, a hit and 2 hit batters while striking out 4.
