ELIZABETHTOWN – Whiteville Central defeated Elizabethtown 13-3 Thursday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball action.

The Lady Hornets took a 4-0 lead, before the Lady Cougars rallied with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st. Laila Smith smacked a 1-out single, and Mary Frances Sutton belted a single. Niyah Wooten smashed a single, and Smith, Sutton and Wooten all scored to slice the Central lead to 4-3.

Central tacked on 3 runs in the 2nd inning to grow their lead to 7-3 then added 3 runs in both the 4th and 5th innings to open up the 13-3 lead.

Sutton batted 2-for-2 to lead the Elizabethtown hitters. Smith, Wooten and Bri Wuergler added one hit each to the Lady Cougar attack.

Sutton pitched 4.1 innings for Elizabethtown, and Wooten relieved and worked the final 0.2 innings in the circle.

Elizabethtown will travel to East Columbus Tuesday at 4 p.m.
