LUMBERTON – Freshman Halona Sampson pitched a 1-hitter and struck out 7 batters to lead Lumberton to a 10-0 non-conference softball victory over West Bladen Tuesday night.

Freshman Alona Hanna slugged a grand-slam home run in the 1st inning for the Lady Pirates. Senior Syniah Lancaster cracked a 2-run single to highlight Lumberton’s 4-run 3rd inning. Freshman Alyssa Stone batted 2-for-3 and scored twice.

Sophomore Mackenzie Singletary laced a single to centerfield in the 3rd inning for the West Bladen hit.

Sophomore Kylie Durden started in the circle for the Lady Knights and gave up 4 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks in 0.2 innings. Sophomore Rylee Chadwick relieved and struck out 4 batters and allowed 4 runs – 3 earned – on 3 hits and 2 walks in 3.1 innings. Junior Jessalyn Vendrick pitched in the 5th inning and allowed 2 runs on a hit and a walk.

The Lady Knights, now 7-2 overall, will travel to Whiteville Thursday night for a key Three Rivers Conference game.
