RED SPRINGS- The senior trio of Emily Young, Makayla Wright and Whitney McLean combined for 36 service points and 18 kills as they led West Bladen to a 3-1 Southeastern Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Red Springs Tuesday night by set scores of 25-23, 25-11, 19-25 and 25-20.

Young filled up the stat sheet with 14 service points that included 2 aces, 11 attacks, 6 kills and 5 assists. Wright contributed 9 service points that included 1 ace, 12 attacks, 3 kills and had 2 digs. McLean poured in 13 service points that included 6 aces, 12 attacks and 9 kills.

Junior Jenna McLean fired in 8 service points that included 5 aces and distributed 2 assists for West. Sophomore Marlene Crabtree pummeled the Red Springs defense with 21 attacks and posted 3 kills, 2 aces and 2 other service points. Sophomore Alina Chavez rang up 6 service points, 1 kill and had 11 attacks.

Junior Maddie Walters battered the Lady Red Devils with 17 attacks and 2 kills for the winners. Senior Kylie Durden keyed the defense with 5 digs. Senior Kaitlyn Brisson followed with 3 digs, and junior Trinity Meares posted 4 attacks and 1 kill.

Coach Gaye Davis’ Lady Knights raised their record to 3-7 in the SAC-7 and 5-12 overall. West Bladen will host St. Pauls Thursday night.
