West Bladen High School LogoEast Bladen High SchoolWhat was supposed to be a celebration of Senior Night at West Bladen has turned into another road game for the Knights’ ‘Road Warriors’ Thursday night –thanks to some pesky bats who wanted to get out of the cold.

West Bladen’s Knights (10-3, 19-4) hit the road last week needing to win two key road games against top contenders before closing out the season at home against rival East Bladen.

The Knights potent veteran guard trio of Rahu Purdie, Malcolm Vaught and Stephon McDonald averaged 48 points between them in wins at Clinton 73-61 and at Midway 64-52.

Now all West Bladen needs is a win over East to claim sole possession of the Four County Conference championship. However, due to the bats at West Bladen, the Knights have to hit the road to East Bladen in order to win the title.

Purdie (18 points per game), McDonald (11.8 ppg) and Vaught (11.7 ppg) lead the Knight attack. While forward Sayaun Dent (7.9 ppg) and senior center Brandon Council (5 ppg) man the West inside positions.

East Bladen (5-8, 10-12) knocked off Union 68-38 Tuesday. The Eagles are led by senior Farrell Murchison (12 ppg).

Senior Monterro Graham and sophomore Eian Hines add 9.8 (ppg) and junior Jermaine Robinson contributes 7 ppg. The Eagles have been without sophomore Ethan Hines (11.3 ppg) for the last 5 games due to a knee injury.

East Bladen’s Lady Eagles (13-0, 23-0) will be out to complete a perfect regular season against West Bladen.

Junior Lacey Suggs poured in a career-high 40 points for the Lady Eagles against Union Tuesday night to raise her scoring average to 22.6 (ppg).  Suggs also contributes 7 steals, 6 rebounds and 3 steals per game.

Senior center Imani Turner-Dobson dominates the inside play for East Bladen with 9.2 points, 8 rebounds and 7.7 blocks per game. Junior point guard Abby Ward racks up 7.2 points, 5 steals and 4.4 assists per game.

Senior Abbey Norris scores 6 points and grabs 7 rebounds per game. Junior Christiana Cromartie adds 5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

For West Bladen (8-5, 12-11), sophomores Laikyn Pait and Akira Grimes both average 5.7 points per game. Seniors Breanna Jackson (5.2 ppg) and Miriam Mendoza (4.5 ppg) are other leading scorers.

Senior Delasia Richardson (8.4 rebounds per game) and Jackson (8.7 rebounds per game) lead the Lady Knights on the backboards.
