Lumberton defeated Hope Mills 11-1 Saturday morning to advance to the Dixie Softball District Championship game Sunday at 11 a.m. against the winner of the Hope Mills/Hoke County game.
A trio of West Bladen softball players are members of the Lumberton team. Carley Dawson hammered a double and a triple and drove in 2 runs. Conner Brisson batted a perfect 3-3 with 2 singles and a double and knocked in 2 runs. Abby Dawson laid down a sacrifice bunt that moved Brisson all the way from first to third base on the play.
