Basketball, basketball and more basketball. With both Bladen County boys teams in contention for the Southeastern Athletic Conference championship, Bladen sports news in January was focused almost exclusively on basketball.

The two Bladen teams were locked in a battle with St. Pauls, Red Springs and Fairmont for the SAC-7 top spot and all of those head-to-head match-ups were classics.

Boys Basketball: East Bladen 52, West Bladen 44

The East Bladen girls were involved in battles with St. Pauls, Fairmont and Red Springs for the SAC top spot.

Bladen County’s Pete Jones received a prestigious umpiring award, and Bladen County middle school basketball play was also featured.
