TABOR CITY – A 37-8 2nd half blitz carried East Bladen to a 49-16 victory over South Columbus Monday night in their non-conference boys’ basketball season opener.

A pair of Jacob Nixon baskets, a 3-ball from junior Cameron White, a Zamar Lewis basket and a basket and a free throw by Malcolm Bolden had staked the Eagles to a 12-8 lead in a low-scoring 1st half.

Nixon, a junior, woke up the Eagle offense by bombing in a trio of 3-point shots and another basket to lead a 17-0 East Bladen run as the Eagle defense shutout South in the 3rd quarter. Lewis dropped in a pair of baskets in the period, and senior Nazir Smith threw in a field goal.

Bolden, a junior, connected on 6 of 6 free throws and fired in a 3-point hoop and 2 more baskets in the final quarter. Sophomore Lee Barnes nailed a 3-point shot, and Lewis and White added field goals during the Eagles 20-8 4th period surge.
