LELAND – West Bladen won the first junior varsity soccer match that the school has ever played Tuesday racing to a 5-0 halftime lead en route to a 6-0 non-conference victory at North Brunswick.

Jonathan Ortiz-Hernandez scored the 1st jayvee goal in school history 8 minutes into the game when he turned an assist from Aiden Russ into a goal. Three minutes later Russ drilled in a penalty kick for a 2-0 West lead.

Darwin Garcia banged in a goal off of a corner kick to push the lead to 3-0. Jonah Bryan fired in 2 more goals in the 1st half – one of them coming off of an Ortiz-Hernandez assist.

Russ finished off the Knight scoring with a 2nd half goal. Russ and Bryan totaled 2 goals each in the game, and Ortiz-Hernandez had a goal and an assist. Russ also had an assist. Cade Allen recorded the shutout in goal for the Knights.

“It seemed that after weeks of showing up for daily practices our guys had a ton of ‘Game Energy’ to use,” said Knight Coach Kristen Parker.
