CERRO GORDO – East Bladen defeated West Columbus 2-0 Tuesday in Three Rivers Conference jayvee volleyball action by set scores of 25-17 and 25-11.

A run of 4 straight service points from freshman Kayleigh Raynor vaulted the Lady Eagles into an early 5-3 lead. Freshman Alyssa Futrell fired in 6 more service points to stretch the East lead to 14-7.

Freshman Katie Evans pushed the lead to 18-8 with a trio of service points, before Raynor served out the set with 4 more service points.

Raynor started the second set with a 6-point service run for a 6-0 East lead. One service point from sophmore Abbie Cross and two each from Futrell and Evans padded the lead to 14-4.

A run of 5 consecutive points from Sara Gargala extended the Lady Eagle lead to 21-9 before Raynor served out the match with a trio of service points.

Raynor drilled in 6 aces, 11 service points and 2 kills to lead the East Bladen attack. Futrell knocked in 2 kills, 2 aces and 6 service points. Gargala fired in 5 service points and 3 kills.

Evans hammered in 2 aces, a kill and 3 service points for the winners. Cross pounded in 3 kills and a service point, and teammate Cheylee Mathis slammed in 3 kills.

East Bladen travels to Fairmont Thursday for a 4:30 match.
