TAR HEEL – Ten different players scored Tuesday as Bladenboro defeated Tar Heel 44-10 in Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball action.

Hadley Dove drained a 3-point shot and another basket, and Addison Wilcox threw in 2 baskets and a free throw as the Lady Bulldogs raced to an early 14-3 lead. Teammates Allison Hickman and Adyson Carroll tossed in a basket each, while Serenity Council bombed in a 3-point shot for Tar Heel.

Carroll worked the paint for 2 baskets and a free throw in the 2nd period, and Venus Garcia buried a 3-point shot as the lead grew to 22-6. Abigail Dew drilled in a 3-point shot for Tar Heel.

Hickman sank 5 free throws in the 3rd quarter, Wilcox added a basket and a free throw, and Dove and Brooklynn McKee netted free throws that pushed the lead to 32-10. Genesis Fernanta-Villafuerte pumped in a basket for the Panthers in the period, and Council connected on a pair of foul shots.

Liz Miller popped in a pair of baskets in the final period for the Lady Bulldogs, and teammates Logan Powers, McKee and Maleigha Chatman flipped in a basket each. Kristen Singletary cashed in 2 free throws for Bladenboro.

Wilcox topped the Bladenboro scoring with 8 points, while Hickman and Carroll were right behind her with 7 points each. Dove followed with 6 points, and Miller added 4. Council led Tar Heel with 5 points.

Bladenboro improved to 2-0 on the season and will host Tabor City Thursday. Tar Heel, now 0-2, will visit West Columbus Thursday.
