TABOR CITY – Elizabethtown advanced to the finals of their bracket in the Dixie Youth Baseball North Carolina AA (Coach-Pitch) State Tournament with a 15-6 victory over Columbus County Monday night.
Elizabethtown jumped in front with 4 first-inning runs. Zach Sholar raked a single to leftfield, and Tyler Lewis reached base on an infield hit. Jake Gooden belted a single to left-centerfield to load the bases.
Dawson Wright yanked a single to left that scored Sholar, and Davion Lewis’ infield hit plated Tyler Lewis. Mason Smith laced a single to left-centerfield that scored Gooden, and Ryan Dove’s sacrifice fly drove in Wright.
Elizabethtown added a run in the second inning. Easton Bostic and Isaiah Robinson reached base on infield hits, and Gooden knocked in Bostic with a single to left.
The winners racked up 7 runs after two were out in the fourth inning. Robinson started the rally with a single to leftfield. Sholar followed with a single to centerfield, and Tyler Lewis drove in Robinson with a single.
Gooden and Wright reached base on infield hits that scored Sholar and Tyler Lewis. Davion Lewis slammed a double that scored Gooden. Smith swatted a single to centerfield that drove in Wright.
Dove closed out the inning with a 2-run single that scored Davion Lewis and Smith.
Elizabethtown tacked on 3 more runs in the sixth. Sholar began the inning with an infield hit, and Tyler Lewis drove him in with a single to centerfield.
Gooden smashed a single to left-centerfield that scored Tyler Lewis, and Davion Lewis delivered a single to left that scored Gooden.
Gooden batted 4-4 with 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Davion Lewis finished 4-4 at the plate with a double, 3 rbi’s and a run scored. Colton Daly turned in a perfect 3-3 game at the plate.
Sholar batted 3-4 with 3 runs scored. Tyler Lewis finished 3-4 at the plate with 2 rbi’s and 3 runs scored. Smith batted 3-4 with 2 rbi’s and a run scored. Robinson finished 2-3 at the plate with a run scored.
Wright batted 2-4 with 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Dove, Ahmarie White and Bostic added one hit each. Dove drove in 3 runs, and Bostic scored a run.
