Rivalry battles between East Bladen and West Bladen in football, volleyball and girls tennis highlighted the October Bladen sports news. East Bladen’s Johnny Alvarado won the Southeastern Athletic Conference cross country championship.

The outstanding 4-year tennis doubles record of West Bladen’s Kaden Thurman and Lainey Autry (pictured) was recognized when the duo was eliminated in regional play. Former East Bladen star Maya McDonald led her Cape Fear Community College soccer team to the Region X championship that qualified them for the national tournament.

East Bladen’s football team pounded St. Pauls late in the season and reached the NCHSAA playoffs. Links to these and other stories follow:
