The Clarkton community honored the memory of Erin Wakefield, a long-time volunteer with Dixie Youth Baseball, recreation and middle school sports who suddenly passed near the end of October.
October began with a ceremony at West Bladen to name the gym after Coach Ken Cross.
East Bladen recovered 4 onside kicks to start a win at Heide Trask, but a loss to West Columbus decided seeding for the 1A playoffs.
A late Fairmont rally produced 2 touchdowns and dealt a blow to West Bladen’s playoff chances.
East Bladen won their opening round boys’ soccer playoff game over the School of Math & Science. The Eagles had closed out the regular season with 6 victories in October.

The East Bladen girls’ soccer team was honored with a Pinnacle award for academics and ethics.
West Bladen won a pair of boys’ soccer games in October.
Former East Bladen star Larrell Murchison recorded 3 tackles for the Los Angeles Rams to raise his season total to eight.
West Bladen’s volleyball finished the regular season with a 12-12 record but had to open the playoffs at No. 2 seed Camden County. The Lady Knights also posted 3 regular season victories in October.

West Bladen’s jayvee volleyball team defeated Fairmont and Red Springs to finish the season with a 16-6 record.
East Bladen’s volleyball team opened the 1A playoffs at No. 1 Falls Lake Academy. The Lady Eagle jayvees defeated Whiteville in their season finale to finish with an 11-8 record.

West Bladen’s Demon’tre Love finished 24th in the Class 2A MidEast Regionals after posting 2nd place finishes in all 6 of his Southeastern Athletic Conference races.

East Bladen’s Reese Hester defeated teammate Chandler Bordeaux to win the Waccamaw Conference 1A tennis tournament, and both qualified for the regionals.

Elizabethtown defeated Bladenboro to win the Waccamaw Middle School Conference’s AA Division boys soccer championship and finished with an 8-1 record. Bladenboro was the Waccamaw runner-up and posted a 7-2 record.

Tar Heel’s boys soccer team rolled through the Waccamaw’s A Division with an undefeated record to claim the championship.

Bladenboro’s Lady Bulldogs finished with a perfect 9-0 record and won the Waccamaw’s AA Division girls soccer championship.

Tar Heel’s Lady Panthers were upset by Tabor City in their final match but still shared the Waccamaw’s A Division girls soccer championship with Williams Township

The Clarkton School of Discovery boys’ soccer team finished the season with a 7-4.

Coach Lenon Fisher recorded his 1st hole-in-one ever in June then picked up his 2nd hole-in-one in October.
