Waccamaw 1A Men’s Tennis Tournament: Conner Padrick Wins Singles; 3 More Eagles Qualify for Regionals
ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen’s Conner Padrick defeated his brother Cooper 6-3, 6-4 Wednesday in the Waccamaw Conference Class 1A Men’s Tennis Tournament Championship match.
Both Padricks and the Eagle doubles team of Jair McElveen & Ethan Strickland have qualified for the Class 1A East Regional at Herman Park in Goldsboro that will be played on May 3rd & 4th. READ MORE

ELIZABETHTOWN – Brooks Carroll pitched a 1-hitter and struck out 11 batters Wednesday to lead Bladenboro to a 13-1 Waccamaw Middle School “AA” Division victory over Elizabethtown.

Cade Hancock Has Good Final Golfing Year At Mount Olive
Cade Hancock finished his year at Mount Olive University with some fine striking of the golf ball.
The Elizabethtown native, who is the son of Polly and Jim Hancock played five tournament this spring and shot out of the 70s only once.

Kayla Thompson Attempts To Qualify For US Women’s Open
Bladen County native Kayla Thompson of Clarkton will journey Tuesday to Greensboro to attempt to qualify for the US Women’s Open. She will be playing the Starmont Forest Country Club course.
Starmount Forest is an old course founded August 1, 1930. It has Champion Bermuda grass greens. The qualifying event will be 18 holes. READ MORE

Golf: West Bladen’s Daniel Gustafson Wins Medalist Honors
ELIZABETHTOWN – West Bladen senior Daniel Gustafson fired a 77 Monday to win medalist honors for the Southeastern Athletic Conference golf match at Vineyard Golf at White Lake. Midway won team honors with a 326 total. West Bladen captured 2nd place with a 345 total.
Three SAC teams – Midway, West Bladen and Clinton – qualified for the Class 2A Regionals that will be played Monday, May 6th at The Preserve at Jordan Lake Golf Club. READ MORE
Golf: South Columbus Edges Whiteville in Final Match
LORIS, SC – For the 1st time this season, Whiteville did not win the weekly Waccamaw Conference golf match. South Columbus compiled a 357 total on their 4 scores Monday to finish 4 strokes ahead of the Wolfpack’s 361 total at Diamondback Golf Club.
Whiteville will represent the Waccamaw in the regionals as the top 2A seed. East Bladen will be the top 1A Waccamaw seed. READ MORE

Rodney Lacewell Signs To Play Football at N.C. State
ELIZABETHTOWN – With his father, coaches, administrators and teammates in attendance, East Bladen senior Rodney Lacewell signed a letter of intent Tuesday to continue his football career at North Carolina State University next season.
Lacewell, a 6-7, 300-pound offensive lineman, will attempt to follow in the footsteps of another East Bladen star, Larrell Murchison. READ MORE

BOLIVIA – Former East Bladen star Evan Pait recorded his 6th victory of the season Saturday as Brunswick Community College swept a doubleheader from Lenoir Community College 6-0 and 9-7. The Dolphins raised their record to 36-5 and also secured the 500th career win for Coach Robbie Allen.

Kayla Thompson Finishes In The Money In Natchez Classic
Bladen County professional golfer Kayla Thompson shot rounds of 70-70-76-72=288 to finish tied for 24th place and won $520 in the Taco Bell Natchez Classic Championship this week in Natchez, Tennessee. The tournament was played at Beau Pre Country Club.
Thompson will next play in the U.S. Open Qualifier April 30 at Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro. READ MORE

CLINTON – Clinton’s boys rode a strong showing in the jumping events to a 90-78 victory over West Bladen Thursday in a Southeastern Athletic Conference track & field meet. The Clinton girls rode a 56-15 advantage in the sprints and distance races to a 96-83 win over the Lady Knights.

West Bladen Athletics Golf Tournament
The West Bladen Athletic Department will sponsor a 4-man Captain’s Choice golf tournament to be held at Land O’Lakes Golf Course on Saturday, April 27th. Entry fee is $260 per team.
Food and door prizes will be provided. There will be Longest Drive, Closest to Pin and Putting contests. There will be 3 flights that will be flighted after the rounds are complete. READ MORE
Whack Smack It Golf Tournament Set June 14 At Vineyard Golf
The 2nd Annual Whack Smack It Golf Tournament to benefit the Jim and Sue Schultz Foundation is scheduled for Friday, June 14 at Vineyard Golf at White Lake.
The proceeds from the tournament will go to East Bladen and West Bladen athletic departments and Elizabethtown Dixie Youth Baseball. Each organization received $5,000 from the Schultz Foundation from last year’s tournament.
More information about this year’s tournament will be announced at a later date.
